Of course the boxcutter bullshit was used to justify the ever-increasing absurdity of airport security screenings. I can't immediately see how the false "human shield" story can be applied to create bad policy but if there's a way to do that, it's helpful to remember that no one will think twice about invoking falsehoods in order to push an agenda.
