On Tuesday, both sides still maintained that the other was "playing politics" by holding up a stop-gap funding measure that would prevent a government shutdown on Sept. 30. The bill is scheduled to be taken up for a procedural motion on the Senate Tuesday afternoon, but Democrats and Republicans continued to signal that no consensus had been reached Tuesday morning.And, just as I'm typing this, it looks like the latest attempt to pass something has failed.
