State Rep. Helena Moreno, D-New Orleans, is eyeing a run at city Councilwoman Stacy Head's at-large seat, saying that she's "strongly leaning towards" a 2017 campaign when the seat becomes open in early 2018.It's still a ways off, but this is the second bit of news we've had in as many weeks about the next municipal elections. Now we just need a thank you note from Moreno and her dog.
Head is term-limited from running again for her seat, which is one of two at-large spots on the council.
State Sen. J.P. Morrell, D-New Orleans, a close ally of Moreno in the Legislature, let news of the two-term state representative's plans slip during a taping of the LaPolitics.com podcast set to air in two weeks. LaPolitics' Jeremy Alford broke the news in this week's issue of his LaPolitics Weekly.
