The new normal in Orleans Parish public schools is constant upheaval. Schools close every year. Sometimes they close because they are "failing." Other times, as in the case of Lagniappe Academy, they close because the spirit of competition introduced by the charter system incentivizes them to cheat.
New charters are granted. Student bodies are disbanded entirely and parents have to scramble to fight their way through the enrollment process all over again. So every year a lot of students are starting their lives all over again. Look how fun that is.
And that's a built in feature. This is how it's supposed to work.
