Past is not even past

I can't make up my mind as to whether the current Democratic President's failed attempt to govern from the right is more like Carter's or Clinton's. This Moldy City post got me thinking about that all over again.

I'm also old enough to remember the local press praising Ray Nagin for his handling of city finances. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago, but it must have been a totally different press corps than the city has today.
