The New Orleans City Council added its voice Thursday to the chorus of those asking the state to keep the Algiers-Canal Street ferry running until midnight.I've never understood why the ferry didn't run 24 hours in the first place. If the justification for extending hours is to serve people who live in the Point and work in the Quarter... how many of those folks are typically home by midnight? I'm guessing not many.
