Presidential candidate Bobby Jindal says the Trump phenomenon is 'silly.' That's a lot of chutzpah from a candidate who rings the alarm about no-go zones and proclaims in every single stump speech that he's 'tired of hyphenated Americans.'* When it comes to elevating insane racially-charged issues, he is the closest thing to Trump.Looks like a pretty solid call to me. But I've been on board with Oyster's don't-discount-Bobby talk from the beginning. Go read the rest.
That's why I'm bullish on Jindal. Everyone says he has 'zero' chance to get the nod. But consider this recent NBC/Marist Iowa poll: Jindal's at 4%. Not great until you consider Jeb's in distant 3rd place at 6%. Only Trump, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina** and Jindal had their support increase since the previous poll in July. Jindal is the only one in that group who holds elective office. It's one data point, but it could be significant. Do a fair slice of Trump, Carson and Fiorina supporters opt for Jindal as a more 'reasonable' and 'experienced' (but sufficiently race-baiting***) choice after press scrutiny, revelations and gaffes knock the leading outsider candidates down a few pegs? I think it's much more possible than people suspect. They're not going to turn from Trump or Carson and go to Jeb! I can tell you that much.
