Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of Mitch Landrieu's term

Technically yesterday was that also.. or maybe today is. I understand he's been playing on a bad knee so I'm not sure how that affects the accounting.  Yesterday, in concluding his inaugural speech he told us that, "today is the first day of the rest of our lives" which seemed like it would have trumped something so mundane as the beginning of a mayoral term so I just thought maybe he wanted an extra day.

Anyway tomorrow is a big one.
Two taxes that would shore up the New Orleans city budget will be heard in the Legislature on Wednesday.

A bill to impose an 80-cent tax on tobacco products will be heard Wednesday morning in a House committee. A bill to raise the city’s hotel tax by 1.75 percentage points will be debated Wednesday afternoon on the House floor.
I've got an already tl;dr  post about Mitch, The Universe, And Everything sitting in draft that should be up by tomorrow.

After that, though, it's (sort of) football season again so go get ready.
