Shit Show pre-gaming

The special session begins Sunday. They're coming to Baton Rouge from all over to participate.

Prediction: Pain.

The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance alerted colleges and universities today that they were stopping TOPS payments immediately because of uncertaintly related to the state budget.

“Due to the possibility of state budget cuts, all TOPS payments are being suspended until further notice,” said an email that went out to all TOPS eligible institutions at 3 p.m. “More details will be provided as information becomes available.”

Gus Wales, a spokesman for LOSFA, said the email was sent out as a “precautionary measure, until we learn more about the implications of the potential budget cuts.”

If you're interested in watching the Governor's speech you can stream it live here beginning at 6:30.  If you're interested in John Kennedy's US Senate campaign commercial Republican response, I'm not sure what to tell you yet. But, just taking a few guesses, I'm sure he'll talk about "entitlements" and then say a lot of numbers and percentages.  This will convince at least half of the Louisiana political press that they are dealing with a smart person.  At least, that's what used to work for Bobby Jindal anyway.

I wonder how much money Kennedy could find if he asked his "aggressive stop and frisk" brigade to collect 50 cents from the turned out pockets of every suspicious character they encounter.
