Adding this here since it's on the topic. From the looks of things, I don't see what course of action on the part of readers is going to make much of a difference here. I suppose they could boycott the paper which would only kill it faster and no doubt strengthen Newhouse's contention that it is unsustainable. Or they could mount a subscription drive in which case Newhouse will simply stay its current course.
The only thing I could possibly conceive of that might work would be a brand new competing publication. But the resources necessary to make such a thing succeed are non-existent.
