Zombie tax credits

They come back to life at "sunset."
Lawmakers are looking to add three-year "sunset" provisions to many of the tax credit reductions and increases the Legislature was expected to implement -- meaning most of the changes would not be permanent. Other across-the-board tax credit reductions, affecting individuals and businesses, would largely expire in three years.

These "sunset" provisions were added in order to bring the budget deal more in line with Jindal's "no tax" pledge. The governor's "no tax" commitment is a lot easier to meet if any changes that require people to pay more in taxes are only temporary.

"It was something the administration wanted," said Rep. Joel Robideaux, R-Lafayette, of the added "sunset" provisions.
Would make a pretty scary Hollywood South movie. They can fund it in three years.
