"He was no angel"

James Gill thinks it's very important that we acknowledge a man who was summarily executed by police was not "a respected man." He's careful to write, "This does not make his death any less regrettable, or vindicate the officers responsible for it." And that is the truth of the matter. But if we agree on that, what is Gill's point, exactly?
