All the Hurricane Seasons are below average, though.
Hurricane forecasters at the University of Colorado are predicting a below-average 2017 season.
Hurricane forecasters at the University of Colorado are predicting a below-average 2017 season.
In a report released Thursday, the university predicts 11 named Atlantic storms, of which four will strengthen to hurricane level and two will reach category three or higher.
If the forecast bears out, the numbers will be slightly less compared to the average season between 1981 and 2010.
And so we begin the months long ritual of issuing and revising predictions about how many storms may or may not form this year until we finally get it right in November.
