So are we gonna follow up on this now?

The election is over. Our state's political press corps should have plenty time to go back to Jennings and investigate Ethan Brown's leads on Charles Boustany now. There are actually several threads in  Murder In the Bayou that anyone interested in sussing out police and political corruption should be pulling on.  But the Boustany angle was handled with particular delicacy by a cautious herd of reporters. Anyone who has read the book understands it deserves better than that.

Anyway, now that we're past that, there's no excuse to hold back.  Seems like Boustany would prefer if everyone just dropped the subject now.  

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Republican U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany of Louisiana has dropped his defamation lawsuit over a book that alleges the he was a client of prostitutes who were later killed.

Boustany sued the author and publisher of "Murder in the Bayou" in October, when he was in a tight Senate race competition. Boustany lost the race in November and ended his lawsuit this month. Boustany lawyer Jimmy Faircloth confirmed the lawsuit dismissal Tuesday.

"He felt as though it would probably be best for all concerned for him not to proceed with the lawsuit," Faircloth said.

Might be a good time to start asking why.
