Road to Appomattox

Are the Confederates finally ready to surrender yet?
A bill that would require the approval of a new state commission to remove any Confederate memorials in New Orleans and elsewhere failed in a Senate committee Wednesday morning.

The party-line vote was 4-5 and followed 90 minutes of testimony, all from supporters of the legislation.

The measure, Senate Bill 276, would ban the removal of a wide range of war and other historic sites outlined in the legislation unless a seven-member commission granted a waiver.

The move is aimed at derailing plans to take down a statue of Robert E. Lee and other controversial monuments.

The New Orleans City Council voted 6-1 in December to allow removal of four monuments.
Knowing these lost causers, the answer is probably not.  They've got at least one more stand in the courts. Then it's on to... oh I'm sure they'll think of something.

Update: I see what you did there, NOLA dot com.  "Confederate monuments bill rejected in Senate committee, but will rise again in House"
