"Poshtel"

I don't even have a joke for this.

A local developer is proposing to build an upscale hostel — a so-called “poshtel” — with 185 beds, a bar and restaurant on vacant land along the Bywater riverfront.

The 45,000-square-foot boutique hostel would have 43 rooms — a mix of shared, hostel-style rooms with shared bathrooms and private rooms with private bathrooms. Before it can be built, the project requires a conditional-use permit from the City Council because it would exceed 10,000 square feet.

The property, bordered by Royal, Mazant, Chartres and Bartholomew streets, is owned by New Orleans lawyer John Cummings.

Anyway, there's more. 

Kelso told neighbors during a public meeting last month that the building’s shared rooms would accommodate from four to 10 guests, according to meeting minutes included with the project’s application.

The property is expected to cater to “millennial-type consumers, ages 20-34,” with a focus on international travelers, Kelso told the group.

“We’re not going after bachelor parties — this is not our target market — and it is not a frat house,” he said. “We’re targeting serious travelers who are looking to really experience New Orleans as a local and have a chance to interact with locals.”

The proposed hostel would include a 60-seat restaurant, a small hotel bar, a courtyard with room to seat 40 and 40 parking spots.

Again, not a joke, not The Onion, it's not April Fool's Day.  These are real things the people are actually saying.  Maybe let's just leave it at that.
