With the Saints in a playoff game last night and an old hated rival next on the schedule the talk last night turned to 1987. But not all of us were old enough or New Orleanians long enough to remember just what others of us were screaming about. So I went and found these videos. Archie looks like he could still play in these.
Seriously. Watch this insane TV special. It goes on for about an hour and features cheezy graphics, some embarrassing interviews with failed Saints coaches of the past, unnecessary "recipe" segments with Frank Davis, Johnnie Poe at home, Saints fans wearing very very 80s sports paraphernalia, and a darkened set inside the Superdome where Jim Henderson and Archie Manning sip bloody marys and talk. In short, if you think the football craziness in this city is strictly a post-Katrina phenomenon, you either aren't from here or you just haven't been paying attention.
