GRAND ISLE, La. -- The Coast Guard says it found a Florida-based shrimper working in an area closed because of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, confiscated 19,000 pounds of white shrimp and dumped it all back in the water.However, what this should tell us, those of us who need to be told anyway, is that people are fishing in the restricted areas. If there are people fishing in the restricted areas, we can assume that not all of them are being caught by the improvised enforcement infrastructure.
If we can assume that not all of the taint is being sniffed out, then certainly some of it is reaching the food supply. And if we can assume there is taint in the food supply, why are we devoting time and money toward propaganda which counters that logic?
