"This might be your only chance to see David Vitter in a debate"

The first Louisiana governor's race TV debate will air live Thursday night (Oct. 1) on WDSU and WDSU.com at 6 p.m. for an hour without commercial interruption.

Six candidates, including all four frontrunners in the race, have agreed to attend the event. The gubernatorial primary is Oct. 24, with early voting beginning Oct. 10. It's likely a runoff between the top two primary candidates will follow Nov. 21.

WDSU is sponsoring the debate with The Urban League of Greater New Orleans, the League of Women Voters, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the National Council of Jewish Women.

This might be your only chance to see David Vitter in a debate. 

Vitter is considered one of the favorites to make the runoff and he hasn't agreed to participate in as many televised forums and debates as the other major candidates. This WDSU event is the only debate he has committed to attend so far.

So... they're saying Vitter might not make the runoff.
