The Urban League and the League of Women Voters are sponsoring a public forum tonight featuring candidates in the various City Council district races tonight at 6 PM on the Dillard University campus. Although the forum is co-hosted by WDSU there are no plans to broadcast it. Probably something to do with the NFL blackout rules. Anyway have fun if you're going.
Uptown Messenger has an incomplete list of some other upcoming events on the condensed campaign schedule this year.
Here are some more I know about although this probably also isn't everything.
WDSU will film a Sheriff's forum on Friday night which will be broadcast on Saturday night at 6 PM (Right after the Saints game!) and repeated on Sunday at 10:30 PM.
Next Tuesday January 14 candidates in Districts D and E as well as the At-Large candidates are invited to a forum at St. Maria Goretti Community Center, 7300 Crowder Blvd., from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Next Thursday January 16, the Mayoral candidates will appear at Dillard for a 7PM forum. It is open to the public. WDSU will broadcast it on Friday Jan 17 at 7PM and on Sunday Jan 19 at 10:30PM
Wednesday January 22 candidates for Mayor and Sheriff will appear at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5234 N. Claiborne Ave., from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m
Next Friday WDSU will film the Council At-Large candidates in a closed session which will be broadcast on Saturday Jan 25 at 6PM and Sunday Jan 26 at 10:30PM..
Again, this is probably not everything but it should be enough to keep us entertained.
