One interesting thing about disasters is that they teach us all this new terminology. My favorite in the wake of the Federal Flood was "white goods" which was the strange term used by sanitation crews to describe the ruined refrigerators they were picking up from people's curbsides.
So far we're learning lots of new terms from the Lake Landrieu disaster. Most of them are engineering-related. "blowout preventer" "dead man switch" I like those. But my favorite so far is "oiled wildlife"
