Usually at this time of year, people are far more optimistic and joyful than they seem lately.
The rain doesn't help but we can handle that okay. Something else is... a bit off right now. Last night I slipped and cut my thumb while slicing a piece of king cake. I am tempted to consider this an unlucky portent but am, admittedly, not an expert in
such things.
